Random team generator FAQs
Is this random team builder free?
Yes, QQO’s random group generator is completely free to use. We designed a clean, modern interface so building random groups is fast, friendly, and fun.
What is a random team generator?
It’s a tool that takes a list of names and splits them into teams at random. Ours goes further with drag‑and‑drop, player emojis, locking, labels, gender balancing, and quick export.
How do I use this team randomizer?
Add names in the input, choose optional settings (like max team size), click Generate, then drag & drop players between teams to finalize.
Can I balance teams by gender or custom labels?
Yes. Turn on balance options in Advanced. Just make sure to click on users and assign them a gender or label first. We’ll distribute players to keep teams fair by gender and/or labels you provide.
Can I rename or add teams?
Yes. You can rename any team and add new ones at any time. Each team has an indicator showing the number of players in it, and they change color depending on how many players they have. For example, if a team has more players than others, the player indicator will be green; if it has fewer participants, the indicator will be red; and if each team has the same number of participants, the indicator will be gray. You can move players freely with drag‑and‑drop. Plus, you can lock players to keep them in the same team. In addition to deciding on the number of teams, you can also decide maximum participants in each team.
Is this a random group maker for classrooms and events?
Absolutely. It’s a flexible random group generator for classes, sports, icebreakers, tournaments, board games, and company retreats.
Is my teams saved automatically?
Yes. However No information is saved to our servers. Your teams are saved automatically in your browser's local storage. So, even if you close the browser, your teams will be saved when you returned.
How do I export my teams?
Open Export to download a CSV, print, or save a PDF. Exports include team names and members so you can share or post them.
